CITEPA (Interprofessional Technical Centre for Studies on Air Pollution) is a French non-profit organisation. It impartially calculates, verifies and disseminates information on greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and atmospheric pollutants. CITEPA produces emissions inventories, operating for the French Environment Ministry (MEEM), conducts emissions audits and reviews and contributes to capacity-building, thereby furthering action to mitigate climate change and reduce atmospheric pollution in France and internationally. CITEPA has 85 members (industry, trade bodies, energy production and distribution companies, consultancies, research institutes, measuring laboratories and approved associations for monitoring air quality [AASQA]). For over 20 years, CITEPA’s flagship activity has been the production of France’s annual inventory of GHG and air pollutant emissions. As the national focal point for air emissions in France, CITEPA draws on reliable statistical sources and expert studies in every sector of activity to estimate, compile, synthesise and distribute data, analyses and other relevant information for public and private professionals and organisations. In doing so, CITEPA operates as a technical intermediary between the State (MEEM in particular) and businesses, especially those needing to comply with regulations on air pollution and climate. CITEPA has ISO 9001 certification acknowledging the rigorous conduct of its work and especially the production of inventories and studies. Finally, CITEPA’s reliability and impartiality are guaranteed by the annual audits of its inventories by international experts, from the UNFCCC and UNECE in particular. CITEPA’s staff comprises some 25 expert engineers specialising in key emissions sectors and in a wide range of air pollution/climate issues. They are also members of worldwide expert networks on mitigation and contribute to capacity-building in the field of inventories and projections in different regions in the world: Asia (including China), Mexico, Africa.

Since 2004, Factor, has been working together with some of the world’s main institutions and companies on assessing how to initiate cost effective actions to mitigate climate change. The search for climate change funding or the development of strategies and action plans, are some of the key pillars in this process. In order to reduce the impact that organisations have on climate change, we offer services ranging from GHG emission calculation and reduction studies, to action plans and mitigation strategies or sector benchmark analysis.  Additionally, we develop projects within the climate finance framework to provide funding for project development.

The Nigerian Environmental Study Action Team (NEST) was founded on 17th July 1987, in a spontaneous response of participants at a workshop, convened by the Canadian University Service Overseas CUSO), at the Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, to expose actions in other countries in dealing with environmental challenges. The participants concluded that nothing short of a strong environmental non-governmental organisation was needed to begin to address Nigeria’s environmental problems at that time. NEST became formally registered in 1989. NEST arose out of the observation that the past decades had witnessed numerous negative impacts of human activities on the environment, the adverse effects of such degraded environments on Nigerians, linking environmental degradation tightly to poverty, and the uncomfortable adjustments that many people have had to make in the attempt to survive. Among the many environmental stresses in the country are those brought about by deforestation, soil erosion, desertification, air and water pollution, water scarcity, floods, urban solid wastes, industrial pollution especially from petroleum production and use, loss of biodiversity, energy crises and general resources degradation, which impact most adversely on disadvantaged groups, particularly the poor, women and children, all now compounded by burgeoning population and climate change.
